Baked with intention,
shared with love

We're a small home bakery tucked into Spokane's South Hill — making handcrafted treats the way they were always meant to be made: slowly, carefully, and from scratch.

The House on the Hill

🏡

House on a Hill Bakery started the way the best things do — with a pile of flour, a warm kitchen, and someone who just couldn't stop baking for the people they loved. What began as weekend projects and neighborhood drop-offs slowly grew into something a little more official, but never less personal.

We're rooted right here in Spokane, Washington — a city that smells like lilacs in May and tastes like huckleberries all summer long. Our recipes are shaped by the seasons of the Inland Northwest: rhubarb in the spring, stone fruit in summer, warm spices as the Palouse turns gold in autumn.

Everything we make is handmade in small batches. There's no commercial kitchen, no assembly line, no shortcuts. Just a baker who cares deeply about what goes into your food — and who thinks the act of making something by hand is itself a kind of gift.

We believe in real butter. We believe in local honey when we can get it. We believe in recipes that have been tested and tweaked and loved until they're just right — and then shared with people who deserve something made with care.

The principles behind the pastry

🌸
🤲
Made by Hand

Every item is shaped, piped, filled, and finished by hand. We think that matters — and we think you can taste the difference.

🌿
Seasonally Inspired

Our menu follows the Spokane seasons. When lilacs bloom, we bake with lavender. When rhubarb emerges, we celebrate it.

🫶
Made for Giving

Food is love made edible. Whether it's a birthday, a thank-you, or a Tuesday — a handmade treat says something special.

🏡
Small & Intentional

Staying small means staying careful. We'd rather make fewer things beautifully than many things without attention.

Inspired by Eastern Washington

🌾
🌸
Spokane — The Lilac City

Spokane has been celebrating lilac season since 1938. Every May, the city bursts into bloom — and so does our spring menu.

🌾
The Palouse

Rolling wheat fields stretch south toward the horizon. The same grain that feeds the region finds its way into our pantry.

🍓
Farm Country Produce

Eastern Washington's dry, sunny summers produce some of the best stone fruit, berries, and rhubarb anywhere in the country.

🏔️
South Hill, Spokane

We're baking with a view. Spokane's South Hill is home, and it gives everything we make a little extra elevation.

"The Lilac City"

Spokane earned its nickname honestly — the whole city erupts in purple every spring, and the Lilac Festival has been a tradition for nearly a century. It's the kind of place where neighbors share cuttings over the fence and front yards compete in the most friendly way possible.

When we developed our Lilac Earl Grey Cupcakes, we weren't just making a pretty dessert — we were baking a little bit of Spokane into every one. That's what cooking from a place means to us.
